The Edition Whitney Museum of American Art, consisting of cups, bowls and jugs, reproduces Native American vessel shapes that were common in the early 17th century in the valleys and adjacent areas along the Delaware River and the middle and lower Hudson River to the Atlantic coast in the now inhabited northeastern United States.
